Project: MACC Veteran’s and Families “Learning Your Needs” Survey Eligibility: Veteran or Family Member of Veteran within Ohio Average Completion Time: 10 Minutes Closing Date: October 9, 2009 Description: This project is designed to gain insights on how best to “Learn the Needs” of the Ohio Veterans Population and their families in regards to behavioral/mental health services. RAMA Consulting Group, Inc. and Multiethnic Advocates for Cultural Competence (MACC) are pleased to announce that they will be holding Veterans & Families “Learning Your Needs” Forums in Columbus, Chillicothe, Marietta, Akron, Hamilton, and Toledo, Ohio. These forums will begin mid-October and last until mid-November. There will also be surveys online and distributed in hard copy to obtain input from the Veterans and their Families about their experiences in the Behavioral Health Systems. The initial set of focus groups in Central Ohio is designed to develop baseline learning and to inform the survey design process. The survey was designed to capture a relatively large sample of individuals from this population. After aggregation of the survey data, the 5 regional forums will commence. Veterans or military personnel will serve as facilitators for the veteran’s groups. RAMA will provide orientation, oversight, and logistical support to military facilitators. RAMA will work with Veterans Advisory Group to ensure a diverse team of facilitators based on the sub-sets that we target for participation. Completed Surveys   Project: Changing Times: City of Columbus Citizen Participation Survey Survey Eligibility: Any Columbus resident Description: The City of Columbus needs your help in setting its priorities for the use of funds for community development issues in our city. Your responses will be included in the citizen participation portion of the 2010-2014 HUD Consolidated Plan to be submitted to the federal government. The Consolidated Plan is a collaborative process to identify housing and community development needs and to establish goals, priorities and strategies to address those needs, especially for low and moderate income households. Your input is needed to help identify how the City of Columbus will spend its federal HUD dollars over the next 5 years.     Project: Minority Community Recruitment Initiative African American Consumer Engagement Survey Survey Eligibility: African American Mental Health Consumers or Family Members of Consumers Description: This project is designed to solicit input from minority parents, consumer, and potential advocates not engaged in the mental health system to measure attitudes, motivations, social and soci-economic factors that encourage or deter ethnically and culturally diverse populations from participating in advocacy and engagement within the behavioral healthcare system. This survey, along with 10 regional focus groups, will be used to formulate a guide for engaging African Americans in consumer advocacy and volunteer capacities.
